pleeeeeeeeeeeeasetell me how you get the oil paint so transparent?

The truth is that it's not transparent. No glazes. The veil sort of looks see-through but I don't use any paint mediums at all. I have very fine watercolor detail brushes for things like the veil. But otherwise I just attack the canvas cold. I wish I had the patience for transparent glazes. But I have so many characters I want to do that the idea of spending too much time on one image makes me antsy.
